Fern G. Holz, 89, of Owatonna, formerly of Dodge Center died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Cedarview Care Center.

Fern was born March 28, 1923 in Truman, Minnesota the daughter of Fred and Lucy (Engel) Tonne. There she was raised and attended country school. She was united in marriage to Clarence Holz on January 30, 1943. They made their home in Northrop until 1954 where they farmed. They moved near Blooming Prairie and she worked for Von Rudens in both Claremont and Owatonna. They retired from farming in 1968 and moved to Leroy, Minnesota. She worked as a seamstress for a canvas repair shop in Harmony. In 1972, they moved to Dodge Center. She then was employed at Target in Rochester. Clarence died in January 1991 and in 2009 Fern moved to Owatonna.

She enjoyed listening to country music, watching the CMA awards, and playing word search puzzles.

She is survived by her children Kenneth Holz of Albert Lea; Judith (and Jay) Hiller of Stillwater; Janet (and Marvin) Worrell of Owatonna; Joyce (and David) Panzer of Owatonna; Kevin (and Cathy) Holz of Oronoco; Joanne (and John) Kay of Medford; daughter-in-law, Carol (and Chuck) Kinney of Backus; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brother, Floyd Tonne of Fairmont; sister, Ruth Groover of Sterling, CO; sisters-in-law, Elnora (and Marvin) Bicknase, Betty (and Norbert) Hines, and Mavis Tonne all of Fairmont, along with many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence, son, Robert, brothers, Burne and Rudy Tonne, and sister, Fae Blom.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Kirk Griebel officiating. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center. Memorials are preferred to donor''s choice.
