Richard “Rick” G. Spitzack 47, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Owatonna Hospital.

He was born September 8, 1961 in Faribault, Minnesota the son of Gerald and Virginia (Reistad) Spitzack.
Rick graduated from Morristown High School in 1980, and from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1984. After college Rick started working for Wells Fargo in Northfield, then began his career with Life Style Inc. in Owatonna in 1987 as Property Director. He married Mary Dietsch November 2, 1991. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was active on many committees. Rick was also a board member for the Express Hockey Team. He coached basketball and baseball teams for both of his sons, he established a NASCAR Fantasy League, and was a NASCAR enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife Mary, sons, Carson Spitzack, and Ryan Schwab, daughter Briana Schwab, mother Virginia (Wilmer) Schmidtke of Morristown, father Gerald (June) Spitzack of Morristown, and maternal grandmother Ethel Reistad of Waseca. Rick is also survived by three sisters Stephanie (and Mark) Hennings of Minnetrista, Vicki (and Dwayne) Anderson of New Prague, Kelly (and Tony) Schwichtenberg of Owatonna, several nieces and nephews, mother in law Mary Dietsch of Faribault, brother in law Mike (And Tracey) Dietsch of Faribault, and sister in law Meg Scaggs of Columbus, Ohio..

An infant brother, maternal grandfather, paternal grandparents, and father in law Warren Dietsch preceded him in death.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday February 6, 2009 from 4-8 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Funeral service will be held Saturday February 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Dean Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Concordia Cemetery in Morristown.
