John Edward Davidson Jr., 67, of Kenyon, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 22, 2019 at his home following a six-and-a-half-year battle with lung cancer. He was born on August 28, 1951, in Faribault, Minnesota the son of John and Emily "Vi" (Syverson) Davidson. He graduated from Kenyon High School with the class of 1969. He attended Mankato State and Dunwoody Institute. He farmed with his father and brother and eventually farmed on his own. John was a lifelong member of Holden Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed and later served on the cemetery board. He also served on the Kenyon Park committee. He loved music and played guitar in a number of bands including the Kubes. He enjoyed International tractors and loved all things Harley Davidson. He married Laura Pratt in 1985 and had two daughters. They later divorced. He was a proud dad and even prouder grandfather. He loved to visit with everyone and you had better listen carefully because he talked very fast. He was described by many as a true character. He is survived by daughters, Erica (Jon) Marshall of Chicago, IL, Angeline (Beau) Mischke of Hammond, MN and grandchildren, Issabella Mischke and Maddux Marshall; siblings, Judy Stoner of Northbrook, IL, Michael (Portia) Davidson of Woodbridge, VA, Dorothy Davidson of Staten Island, NY, and Jeff (Karen) Davidson of Kenyon, MN, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, James Stoner. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Sunday, August 25th from 4:00-7:00 PM and at Holden Lutheran Church on Monday from 9:30-10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 26, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Holden Lutheran Church with The Reverend Heather Culuris officiating. Interment will be in Holden Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Mayo Clinic Cancer Research.
