Ada Stendel, 95, of Owatonna, died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Owatonna Hospital. Ada was born June 26, 1913 in Vivian Township, Minnesota the daughter of August and Anna (Tesch) Groskreutz. Ada was baptized into faith on August 10, 1913 and confirmed her faith on April 10, 1927. She was raised and attended school in Meriden. She was united in marriage to Harvey Stendel on June 5, 1935. They farmed in Meriden Township for many years. Harvey died in November of 1976. Ada continued living on the farm with her son Elwood. Ada enjoyed many things especially quilting for her family and the church. She enjoyed gardening and baking. Some of her specialties were making cookies, rolls and fresh breads. She had a special love for her grandchildren and her great grandchildren and will be missed by her family. She is survived by two sons, Elwood Stendel; Kenneth (and Janice) Stendel both of Owatonna; three grandchildren, Jeff (and Barb) Stendel, Wayne Stendel and Mark Stendel all of Owatonna, five great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Helen Stendel of Owatonna; Ada was preceded in death by her husband Harvey, her parents August and Anna Groskreutz and 12 brothers and sisters. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Meriden with The Reverend Gary Rusinko officiating.
