Adelaide Hinckley, 101, of Owatonna, died Monday, January 7, 2013 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born August 11, 1911 in Havana Township, Minnesota the daughter of James and Marie (Quam) Lewison. Adelaide graduated from Owatonna High School in 1928, and started working for the Claremont News which her and her husband owned, and she worked there for thirty three years. She was one of the first women to run a Linotype typesetting machine. She married Dana Hinckley November 21, 1962 and the couple lived in Claremont. Dana later died in December of 1985 and Adelaide moved to Owatonna, moving into Realife in 1988. Adelaide was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and also part of the Senior Group at church. She and her husband were very influential in helping with Rice Lake State Park becoming a State Park. In her younger years she enjoyed playing tennis, and bowling, and she enjoyed the Minnesota Twins and playing Cribbage up until about seven days ago. With having no children of her own she was very involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews and their families, and friends of hers and their families. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Judy (John) Smith, Tom (Bonnie) Russell, Richard Russell, Dianne Talley, Lonny (Vali) Larson, Penny (Miguel) Nepomuceno, Vicky (Bill) Herman, Dennis Huddart, Michael Huddart, Nanette Joyce, Bob (Khombo) Klieder, and Earle (Georgie) Maendler and also many great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her step grandchildren and step great grandchildren of her husband Dana''s family, and a longtime special friend Ernestine Rand. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dana, seven sisters three of which were infants, Judith, Alice, Marvelene, Jennie Russell, Unella Burkett, Vergil Huddart, and Dolores Wagner and four brothers Leonard, Arnold, Marvin, and James. Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday January 11, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday January 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the Thompson Cemetery in Havana Township. Michaelson Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or Thompson Cemetery.
