Adeline Addie Christine Quimby, 89, of Kenyon, died Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Kenyon Sunset Home. She was born October 1, 1928 in Adams, Minnesota the daughter of Christian and Alma (Sathre) Hanson. She graduated as valedictorian from Adams High School, Class of 1946. She married Edgar Engen on August 18, 1963. The couple lived in Adams before moving to Austin and later West Concord. Edgar died in 1987 and Adeline continued living in West Concord. She married Orville Quimby on June 1, 1991 and the couple made their home in West Concord. Addie worked in the banking industry beginning in Adams and then in Austin. When she moved to West Concord, she worked briefly at the telephone company before her 35 years at Farmers State Bank. Addie loved dancing, playing cards, was an avid reader and researcher; enjoyed playing piano and traveling with Orville. She was a caregiver, caring for some of her family members. She also delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered at various other activities in the area. Addie was a faithful and active member of Hegre Lutheran Church where she served as the financial secretary, WELCA and the quilting group. She also enjoyed playing cards with the Canasta Club in West Concord as well as participating in the West Concord Study Club. She is survived by step-children, Barb (Steve) Kleeberger of Bemidji; Herb Quimby of Bemidji and Royce (Carol) Quimby of Minneapolis; sisters-in-law, Dolores Quimby of West Concord and Bess Quimby of Pine Island; cousins, Roger (Janet) Hanson of Wauzeka, WI, Jerry Hanson of Montrose and Mary Pinkston of Kanawha, IA along with step-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Christian and Alma; first husband, Edgar Engen; infant son, Bruce Alan Engen and second husband, Orville Quimby. Visitation will be at Hegre Lutheran Church on Tuesday, May 22nd from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held May 22, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Hegre Lutheran Church, rural Kenyon with Pastor Renita Eidenschink officiating.
