Adrienne "Addie" Marcella Rothgarn, 93, of Owatonna, died Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Homestead Hospice House.
Addie was born on June 28, 1926 in Owatonna the daughter of William and Elsie (Tuerk) Ahlers. She has lived her entire life in the home she grew up in. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1944. During her senior year in high school, she began working at Federated Insurance. She worked there for 48 years, retiring in 1991. On June 5, 1981, she married Orville Henry Rothgarn at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna.
Addie was known for the lavish meals she prepared and served at Christmas. Some of her specialties include baked ham, Swedish ham balls and cream horns. She always said if something didn't taste right, put butter on it and then more if needed.
She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, reading, library sales where she would get bags of books, collecting pink Miss America china and trips to Williamsburg and the Grand Canyon where she rode a donkey down the trail. She was particularly proud of the 1966 Mustang Coupe she purchased that Orville restored for her.
Addie faithfully attended St. John Lutheran Church all her life where she served as a Sunday School teacher and volunteered in the office.
She is survived by her niece, Karen Cope of Minneapolis; nephews, James (and Nancy) Cope of Albert Lea, William Ahlers of Owatonna and great nephew and niece, Geoffrey and Kaitlin Cope.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Rothgarn; brother and sister in law, Donald (and Mildred) Ahlers; sister and brother in law, Jeanette (and Howard) Cope; nieces, Jeanne Ahlers, Kimberly Cope.
Visitation will be at St. John Lutheran Church on Saturday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 10:30am at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
