Obituary

Adrienne Mae Breiner, 95, of Owatonna, died on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Adrienne Mae Breiner was born in 1929 in Alexandria, Minnesota the daughter of James and Mae Iversen. After graduation from high school in 1947 she attended the University of Minnesota and earned a degree in music education in 1950. She spent the next two years teaching vocal and instrumental music in the Willmar public schools.

Adrienne was united in marriage to Theodore (Ted) Breiner on June 14, 1952, in Alexandria, MN. They moved to Owatonna where Ted was employed. While caring for her young family, Adrienne taught part time and directed three church choirs. When her family grew older, she commuted and taught music full time for many years in neighboring public schools. She also did substitute teaching in the Owatonna public schools.

In addition to her teaching, she pursued her interests in politics. She worked on campaign committees for several candidates. She was appointed by two different governors to serve on two separate Minnesota State Boards. She was an activist for women's issues and a member of the Owatonna League of Women Voters, and the Minnesota Women's Political Caucus.

Other volunteer activities included her work with the Owatonna Arts Center, Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary, the American Cancer Society, and Grandparents for education. For 12 years she was the volunteer director of the Golden Tones, a group of singers at Owatonna Senior Place. In 2006, she was honored as Steele County's Outstanding Citizen. She was a long-time member of the Associated Church where she served on various church committees over the years and sang in the church choir.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa (and Dave) Jordahl of Estacada, OR, Jennifer (and Ed) Ryan of St. Paul; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two nieces

She was preceded in death by his husband Ted Breiner; her parents; and her brother, Lauren Iversen

Memorial service will be on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11AM at Associated Church in Owatonna. A visitation with refreshments will be served one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Owatonna Memorial Gardens.
