Agnes H. 'Helen' Pettersen, 101, of Owatonna, died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca. She was born October 3, 1909 in Madelia, Minnesota the daughter of Abraham and Helene (Thorsheim) Sorenson. Helen graduated from Madelia High School in 1927, and moved to Owatonna and began working at Federated Insurance. She also worked with the Federated Credit Union, and with the Retail Farming Equipment Association. She was a member of the quarter century club, involved in Sons of Norway, and received her 3,000 hour pin for volunteer work for the hospital auxillary. She was very active at Trinity Lutheran Church, wheere she was a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, and was a member of the altar guild and sewing circle. Helen also had a Sunday school class at the state school orphanage for many students, where she provided over three hundred New Testaments for the children. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, one sister, and four brothers. Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday December 6, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday December 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend John Lestock officiating. Interment will be in the Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Madelia.
