Obituary

Alfred R. Heil, 90, of Owatonna, Minnesota died Monday, October 30, 2017 at The Cedars of Austin, Minnesota. Alfred was born April 6, 1927 in Faribault, Minnesota the son of Alfred and Orpha (Suddendorf) Heil. They family lived in Charles City, Iowa then Owatonna. Alfred was a 1945 graduate of Owatonna High School. He enlisted into the United States Navy in 1945 and was stationed stateside until his honorable discharge in 1946. Alfred was married to Dorothy Roesler on September 14, 1949 in Waseca, Minnesota and they made their home in Owatonna. Alfred worked for Marigold Dairy (currently known as Kemps) for 46 years working his way up to General Sales Manager. He was their longest hired employee. Alfred enjoyed camping with his family in Florida during the winter and traveling to Europe and Hawaii. He was always willing to help his neighbors and friends. He especially enjoyed painting homes and the family barn. Alfred volunteered for over 20 years for Salvation Army and received Steele County Volunteer of the Year Award for his service. He was a founding member of Bethel Baptist Church in Owatonna and member of the Gideon's International. Alfred also flew on the last Honor Flight for WWII veterans in 2011. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Heil of Austin; children, Cleone (Paul) Smith of Denver, CO, Rebecca (Steve) Cooper of Middlebury, IN, Gretchen Heil of Owatonna, Diane (Mark) Asprey of Austin, and Bradley (Margaret) Heil of Apple Valley; 9 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joni Farnsworth of Faribault and Betty Heil Morrison of Owatonna; extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronald, Dean, and Jack; infant brother, Willis. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 10, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna. Interment will be in the Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. Memorials are preferred to Salvation Army or Gideons International. Visitation: 11/09/2017 17:00 11/09/2017 19:00 Service: and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home 11/10/2017 10:00
