Obituary

Alice Eggers, 99, of Owatonna, died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Owatonna Care Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 3, 1913 in Steele County, Minnesota the daughter of Fred and Ella (Wilker) Dinse. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church on November 8, 1913, and was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Meriden on April 22, 1927. She married Clarence P. Eggers on July 20, 1932 at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. To this union seven children were born. They farmed near Ellendale until 1959 then moved to Owatonna. Alice worked as a part time custodian with her husband Clarence at St. John Lutheran Church for 14 years. She also worked at Cedarview Nursing home for 2 years. They sold their home and moved to an apartment in 1997. Clarence passed away on May 21, 2006. Alice moved to the Brooks and in 2009 she became a resident of the Owatonna Care Center. Alice was always a faithful farm helpmate, mother, and grandmother. She belonged to circles at her church, loved to play cards and go dancing. Her family, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were always important to her. Baking sugar cookies was her specialty. She is survived by her children Clarence (LaVonne) Eggers of Albert Lea, Beverly (Marvin) Meixner of Owatonna, Margie (Lyle) DeBower of Decorah, IA, Dee (Vern)Sundem of Minneapolis, Eleanor (Ralph) Wangen of Albert Lea, Phyllis (William) Stransky of Cleveland, MN, seventeen grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 24 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence, daughter Patty (January 27, 2013), grandson Kenneth Grimstad, and her sister Alma Bohlman. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday April 4, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at St. John Lutheran Church on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday April 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Church. Visitation: 04/04/2013 16:00 04/04/2013 20:00 Service: and one hour prior to the service at the church 04/05/2013 11:00
