Alma Marie (Underdahl) Angelstad, 94, of Kenyon, passed away Saturday morning, September 24, 2011 at the Kenyon Sunset Home, due to natural causes. Alma was born on December 15, 1916 in Richland Township to Andrew and Emma (Hofdahl) Underdahl. She was baptized and confirmed at Moland Lutheran Church. Alma attended rural school and graduated from Kenyon High School in 1933. Alma was united in marriage to Melvin Angelstad on July 7, 1934 at the Holden Parsonage in Kenyon. Alma and Melvin farmed in the Moland area, where they resided. Alma has been a lifelong member of the Moland Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for several years and active member in the WLECA. She also served as a leader in the 4-H club through the years. Alma taught accordion music for the Traficante Accordion School of Music until 1966. Subsequently, she worked at the Elks Club, Owatonna Inn and Faribault Country Club. Alma then obtained a position of Supervisor in the hospital kitchen at the Regional Center in Faribault. For the last ten years before her retirement, she worked as a Human Service Technician at the Minnesota Academy for the Blind in Faribault. In 1984, she moved to Kenyon where she was an active member in the VFW Auxiliary #141 of Kenyon, Kenyon Senior Citizens and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in Faribault. She enjoyed playing the accordion at nursing homes and senior citizen functions around the local area. Alma is survived by two daughter-in-laws, Sara Angelstad and Pam Angelstad, both of Kenyon, six grandchildren Mary (Steven) Wille of Kenyon, Jane Angelstad of Plantation, Florida, Ann Loftness of Overland Park, Kansas, Tammy (Ed) Fletcher, Todd (Brenda) Angelstad of Kenyon and Lisa (Lou) Schaefer of Mendota Heights; nine great-grandchildren, Brandi (Ben) Nesseth of Crookston, Linnea (Nate) Wayne of Ellendale, Benjamin Fletcher, Tanner Angelstad of Kenyon, Magnus, Lars and Hendrick Schaefer of Mendota Heights, Jake and Jade Loftness of Overland Park, Kansas; two great-great grandchildren Ellie and Joey Nesseth of Crookston, and cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin in 1956, sons Melroy in 1998 and Allan in 1999, brother Clinton in 2010 and great-grandson Jeffrey Evans in infancy in 1978. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Moland Lutheran Church with The Reverend Nancy Edwardson officiating. Interment will be in the Moland Lutheran Cemetery in Merton Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Moland Lutheran Church or Kenyon Sunset Home Capital Fund.
