Alvin Arland Tolzman, 93, of Waterville, died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Traditions of Waterville. Alvin was born October 7, 1920 on the family farm in Cordova Township, LeSueur County, Minnesota the son of Avolt and Flora (Imm) Tolzman. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church, German Lake. He went to grade school at district 105 and graduated from Waterville High School in 1939. On September 3, 1946 he married Esther Sorgatz at Trinity Lutheran Church North Morristown, MN. They farmed the family farm until October, 1967, when they moved to Owatonna. While on the farm he was a 4H leader and Sunday school teacher. He also worked as a psychiatric aid and guard at the Security Hospital in St. Peter. After moving to Owatonna he worked at the Owatonna Tool company from Oct. 1967 to Oc. 1982. After retiring he did part time work at the Monterey Ballroom and was a delivery driver at Motor Supply Company. He was a charter member of the Steele Steppers Square Dance Club. He was also a charter member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and a former lector, choir member, council member, Sunday School committee member, assistant Superintendent, and call committee member. He was also the church custodian and groundskeeper for 14 years. He enjoyed camping, wood working, crafts and family get-togethers. He leaves to mourn his wife Esther Tolzman of Waterville; five sons, Fredrick (and Susie) Tolzman of Waterville; Robert Tolzman of Rural Hall, NC; Keith Tolzman of Craig, NE; David (and Shirley) Tolzman of Rural Hall, NC; Kenneth (and Kathy) Tolzman of Tucson, AZ; two daughters, Kathleen (and Randy) Zimmerman of Eden Prairie; Rosemary (and Scott) Milton of Maplewood; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Billy Zimmerman and a sister, Phyllis Scheffert. Visitation will be at Our Savior''s Lutheran Church, Owatonna, on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior''s Lutheran Church with the Reverend John Weisenburger officiating.
