Obituary

Alvin Wagner, 75, of Claremont, died Sunday, at Cedarview Care Center. He was born October 22, 1932 in Sheridan County, North Dakota the son of Jacob and Magdalena (Dockter) Wagner. His parents farmed and he began working for other farmers at a young age. He attended grade school and was on his own. He met Charlotte Jean Peterson and they married June of 1950. They later divorced and Alvin married Shirley Ann O'Neill on July 7, 1974. Alvin and Shirley retired from Minnesota Rubber and Gasket Company and moved to Claremont in 1999. They found a wonderful community of friends in this area and were active in church choir at St. John's Lutheran Church of Havana Township. Alvin enjoyed farming and invented several things in this lifetime that made his life, and his family''s life easier. He loved music and was an avid string instrument player. Alvin is survived by his daughters, Sheryl Abbott of Owatonna; Sandra (and Jeff) Schlachter of Rochester; Deb (and Dennis) Aqui of Duluth; his son, Bruce Wagner; six grandchildren and four sisters. Alvin was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents, two brothers, two sisters, a son, a daughter, his son-in-law and a grandson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday October 23, from 5-7 pm and at St. John's Lutheran Church Havana Township on Friday from 10-11 am. Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 24 at 11:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church Havana Township with The Reverend Keith Meyer officiating. Interment will be at St. John''s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. John''s Lutheran Church and Homestead Hospice.
