Anne Magdalyn Pichner, 88, of Owatonna, died Friday, July 22, 2011, at Homestead Hospice House. Anne was born November 18, 1922, in Owatonna Township, the daughter of Anna (Kovar) Jason and Frank Jason, Jr. She was a lifelong resident of Steele County. On Feb. 28, 1944, she married Otto Harry Pichner at the Associated Church in Owatonna. Prior to having children, Anne worked as an administrator at the Pillsbury Baptist College. When the children were older she worked part time as a tax preparer for Leona Carpenter and subsequently started Pichner Tax Services which remained in business until her retirement. Anne was very active in the community, including PTA president when her children were in elementary school, vegetable superintendent at the Steele County Free Fair for over 25 years and Treasurer for the Owatonna CSA fraternal lodge for which she became a national delegate and trustee. She was active in Western Fraternal Life Association and the Eagle's Club Aerie 1791. She was an excellent seamstress and gardener as well as having interests in many other crafts and card games which she continued to be involved in while most recently living at Park Place in Owatonna. She is survived by her three children, Carol (and Gary) Papke, Virginia Halloran and David (and Rhonda) Pichner as well as five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Michaelson Funeral Home, 1930 S. Austin Road, Owatonna. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 and one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the Homestead Hospice House or donors choice. .
