Obituary

Ardith Joyce Garner, 92, of Owatonna, died Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Traditions II. She was born May 8, 1923 in Marietta the daughter of Lamont and Gladys (Pattee) McLagan. Ardith graduated from Madison High School. On July 18, 1941, she married Walter Garner at Pierre, SD. Following their marriage the couple lived in various places throughout the United States as they followed her husband's career with Standard Oil Co. After his retirement in 1978 they moved to Owatonna and were active volunteers with several organizations. Ardith was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, watching birds, cross stitching and refinishing trunks. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn (and Dennis) Huffman of Lansing, KS, Connie (and Gary) Bergland of Clarks Grove; son, Nathan (and Tammy) Garner of Blooming Prairie; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother, Larry (and Wanda) McLagan of Owatonna; Charlain (and Larry) Vanderhyde of Winnepeg, Canada and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; daughter, Sandra; grandson, David; Great grandson, Kyle; brothers, Dick, Dee, Donny, Duncan; sisters, Dorothy, Jackie, Peggy, Ruth Ann, Marlene. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday from 3pm to 6pm and at United Methodist Church on Monday from 10am to 11am. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 15, 2016 at 11am at United Methodist Church with The Reverend Loren Olson officiating.
