Arlene Esther Monahan, 82, of Nisswa, formerly of Owatonna, died Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living, Baxter.
She was born April 17, 1937 in Luverne the daughter of Herbert and Esther (Mohr) Hemme. She was raised on a farm near Hardwick and graduated from Luverne High School. On Dec. 27, 1958 Arlene married Robert Monahan in Hardwick. The couple made a few moves for Robert's work before settling in Owatonna. Arlene was the bookkeeper for Cedarview Nursing Home for over 20 years. In 2013, Arlene and Robert moved to Nisswa.
Arlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and later Cross Lake Lutheran Church. She was a dedicated mom and grandma. She loved attending the sporting events her grandchildren participated in. Arlene also loved her "grandpuppies," London and Max. Arlene enjoyed traveling, was a great cook, enjoyed baking and was an excellent host any time they were entertaining.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (and Mark) Mukomela of Lakeville; son, Michael (and Shari) Monahan of Breezy Point; grandchildren, Karli Monahan, Ryan Monahan and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Monahan; brothers, Arlo Hemme, Gene Hemme and an infant daughter.
