Arlene Alta Spatenka, 81, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Homestead Hospice House. Arlene was born March 13, 1929 in Blooming Prairie the daughter of Daniel and Emma (Rosecke) Rasmussen. Arlene married Calvin Spatenka Sept. 10, 1946 in Blooming Prairie. The couple farmed together following their marriage. She worked for Truth Tool and later worked at Washington School in Owatonna. Arlene enjoyed going to antique tractor pulls and threshing bees with her husband. She also enjoyed spending time with Calvin at their shop in Havana. Arlene loved baking and the time she had with her granddaughters. She was a member of the Eagle's Club and the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her son, Mark (and Cheri) Spatenka of Owatonna; granddaughters, Sara Spatenka, Lauren Spatenka of Owatonna; brother, Reuben 'Paul' (and Margaret) Rasmussen of Owatonna and nieces and nephews. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin and brother, Irvin Rasmussen. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday, January 1, 2011 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Church with Pastor Carol Dobson officiating. Interment will be in the Dania Cemetery in Owatonna.
