Arlene E. Springer, 93, of Owatonna, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Traditions II. Arlene was born June 17, 1920 in rural Bixby, Minnesota the daughter of Robert and Allie (Christensen) Eaker. There she was raised and attended country school. Arlene was married to Luvern Springer on January 7, 1942 and of this union had five children. They made their home near Havana where they farmed. They moved to Owatonna in 1965 after they sold their farm. Luvern and Arlene later divorced. Arlene worked at Josten''s for 19 years and in 2005 entered Traditions Memory Care in Owatonna. Arlene was a collector of ruby red glassware. She enjoyed playing many different card games, but she especially enjoyed Pinochle. After her retirement from Josten''s Arlene began traveling to places like Alaska, Niagra Falls, California and other parts of the United States and Canada. She is survived by her children Dale Springer of Owatonna; Diane (and Gary) Wilson of Owatonna; Denis (and Margo) Springer of Leander, TX; David (and Sandy) Springer of Cedar Park, TX; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Donna Springer Trom; a grandson Philip Wilson; a daughter-in-law Darlene Springer; two brothers and a sister. Visitation will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Michael Cronin officiating.
