Arlene F. Utpadel 85, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Homestead Hospice House. She was born October 6, 1927 in Owatonna, Minnesota the daughter of William and Margaret (Selthun) Fritze. Arlene graduated from Owatonna High School in 1945, and she married Orville Utpadel May 28, 1948 in Owatonna. She started working at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator in 1952 and then worked in the business office from 1956 until her retirement in 1979. Arlene also worked at the Owatonna Hospital as a Patient Account Representative and the Village House which she and her husband owned. She also helped serve funeral lunches at Michaelson Funeral Home. Arlene enjoyed bowling, Thursday night bingo, going to the casinos and family gatherings. She is survived by her son, Dan (and Sue) Utpadel of Owatonna, brother, Merlin (and Dot) Fritze of Peoria, AZ, sisters Jeanette (Harold) Mullenmeister of Austin, MN, Doris Lea of Blooming Prairie, Wilma Chappuis of Owatonna, Donna (Wayne) Grubish of Owatonna, and a brother in law Warren Peterson of Lake City. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orville, sister Millie Peterson and two brothers in laws Mike Lea, and Dave Chappuis. Memorial service will be held Saturday April 13, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Michaelson Funeral home with Intern Pastor Minna Quint officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
