Arthur James Schouweiler, 93, of Owatonna, died Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Emeralds at Faribault.
He was born January 7, 1926 in White, South Dakota the son of Norman and Katherine (Gazley) Schouweiler. He grew up in White where he graduated from high school in 1943. He served in the United States Navy from May 3, 1944 until his honorable discharge on June 20, 1946. Following his military service, he began working for Gambles Stores in Wayne, Nebraska. While working there he met and married Lois Bichel on September 11, 1949. The couple live in Wayne and in Iowa while Arthur worked for Gambles. He then took a job with Federated where he worked as an underwriter until his retirement in 1989.
He enjoyed fishing in Canada with his buddies, golfing and watching the Twins and Vikings. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Elks and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Lois Schouweiler of Owatonna; son, James (and Karen) Schouweiler of Freemont, MI; sister, Joan (and Lloyd) Todd of Wichita. KS; grandchildren, Jessica Casey, David Schouweiler and Robert Schouweiler and great-grandson Sean.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Katherine; daughter, Sandra Casey; brother and sister-in-law, Douglas (and Jean) Schouweiler.
Visitation will be at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Saturday, August 31st from 9:30-10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held August 31, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with The Reverend Greg Schlicker officiating. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
