Audrey Langer was born Audrey Marlene Grunwald, June 10, 1933 to Steve and Agnes Grunwald in Owatonna, Mn where she lived until her death on September 18, 2008. Audrey graduated from Owatonna High School in 1951. She met Donald Langer at the local roller rink and they married in 1952. Audrey Don moved to their home on Main Street after the birth of their first daughter in 1953 and remained there over 40 years, raising their 3 daughters: Diane, Liz and Jo. Audrey was known for her hospitality and her love of everyone especially children. A natural caretaker, she was a mother to many during her lifetime. Saturdays on Main Street, you could always find Audrey baking cinnamon rolls for anyone dropping by to visit and on Sunday afternoons there was sure to be a gathering for cards or conversation she was famous for her chocolate chip cookies. Audrey taught Sunday School for over 40 years and was an active member of Our Savior''s Lutheran Church. She was a devoted Girl Scout Leader and spent many summers organizing Day Camp at Piper Hill Girl Scout Camp in Medford. The hundreds of girls who attended Piper Hill, while Audrey was there, knew her as 'mom.' Audrey was the honored recipient of the River Trails Girl Scout Council 'Thanks Badge' award. Audrey was a great friend to many during her lifetime her heart and home open to all. Audrey died Thursday morning at Homestead Hospice in Owatonna after complications stemming from recent surgeries. Audrey is survived by 3 daughters: Diane Richard Danielson, Elizabeth Langer and Joanne Langer, all of Owatonna and 2 granddaughters Nichole and Brianna Arthur; Sister, Marge Jensen of Austin; Brother, Kenneth Grunwald of Owatonna; Sister-in-law Kathy Wobschall of Owatonna; Brother-in-law David Marguerite Langer of Minneapolis and Sister-in-law Marge Francis Peterson of Spooner, Wisconsin; 23 nieces and nephews, 32 grand nieces and nephews and 7 great-grand nieces and nephews. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don, and son-in-law, Mark Arthur. Funeral services will be 3:30 PM Monday, September 22, 2008 at Our Savior''s Lutheran Church, St. Paul Road, Owatonna. Reviewal will be at Michaelson Funeral Home Sunday, September 21 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm as well as one hour prior to service Monday afternoon. The family has requested memorials for Our Savior''s bell choir or the Owatonna Hospice.
