Barbara Jean Berquam, age 86, of Kenyon, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Three Links Care Center in Northfield.
Barbara was born June 13, 1939, in St. Paul to Milton and Marjorie (Ravey) Schottmuller. She was a graduate of St. Paul Park High School and attended nurses training at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul.
Barbara was united in marriage to Harold J. "Jim" Berquam on November 28, 1959, at Newport Methodist Church. The couple lived in Kenyon for five years before moving to a farm in Sogn Valley.
Before raising her children, Barbara was a nurse's aide in Faribault. She later also was employed at the Kenyon Sunset Home. Barbara was a member of Urland Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting, playing board games and cards with her family, attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events, and was a MN Twins fan.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Debi (Doug) Selle of Maple Plain; son, James (Dawn) Berquam of Kenyon; grandchildren, Andrew (Alicia) Selle, Joe (Val) Selle, Kailee (Matt) Kruger, and Emma Berquam; great-grandchildren, Rory and Bella Selle, Jack and Nick Selle, and Kinsley Kruger; special niece, Tracey (Bob) Flom; brothers, Robert (Birdie) Schottmuller of Little Chute, WI, Steven (Pauline) Schottmuller of Newport, and Jeff (Brenda) Schottmuller of Jacobson, MN; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; son, Mark Berquam; brothers, Lee (Karen) and Bruce (Jean); and sister, Sharon Erickson.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Urland Lutheran Church in Leon Township, rural Cannon Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Urland Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Urland Lutheran Church.
