Obituary

Barbara J. (Steinberg) Klemp, age 83, of Owatonna unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the Owatonna Hospital.

Barbara Jean Steinberg, the daughter of Robert and Martha (Balzum) Steinberg, was born on September 20, 1938, in Dundas, Minnesota. She grew up in Dundas, spent the early part of her life in Faribault then made Owatonna her forever home. Her home on Woodland Dr will forever hold many memories. After Barb finished attending school she began her journey of being a mother with her first born. She did venture out in life and tried different occupations, such as working in a sewing shop and a nursing home. She eventually settled back into doing what she did best, being a mother, wife and taking care of her home. Amongst the children, she also took on the role of raising some of the grandkids as well. She was a mother to all. On August 16, 1953, she was united in marriage to Eugene Klemp; a lifetime commitment of sixty-nine years now brings us peace knowing she is happily reunited.

Barb appreciated life and the little things. She always knew how to keep herself busy. When going to visit her I can guarantee you'd find her outside cleaning off Grandpas cars, doing house chores, or finding something to rearrange! She loved to go shopping and going up north. Going on car rides with Gene, many times they would just jump in and go. She loved her tv shows, especially Everybody loves Raymond. She had a strong love for music she enjoyed watching Jesse and Jeremie play at their gigs and blaring her music through the boom box. Trust me when we say if you heard Johnny down the road you knew where it was coming from. Family was very important to her. Sunday dinners, birthdays, and holidays were a must in her life. She had a love for puppies, especially Miah. She loved everyone who came into her life, but all of the boys always held a special place in her heart. She was so strong but yet so stubborn. You could swear she was made of stone she refused break. She would curl those curls and put on her bright red lipstick and just keep going. She was a blessing in many of our lives. Barb will always be cherished and deeply missed, but her memory will live on for a lifetime! Fly high Pretty Lady.

She is survived by her son, Gene "Mick" (and Keri Nutt) Klemp of Oklahoma; daughters, Cindy (and Al) Winterbauer of New Richland, Lynn (and Brad) Buckenstein of Shakopee, Carri McGuire of Wisconsin,  Sherie (and Rick) Grunwald of Hewitt; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren;  and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, sons Jesse and Terry, daughter Angela, nephew Buckie (Robert), and life long best friend Judy.

Visitation will be from 11:00 until 1:00 PM on Monday September 19, 2022, at Michaelson Funeral Home.  With a time of family remembrances at 1:00 PM.  Interment will be in the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Faribault at 2:00 PM
