She was born on July 11th, 1949 at Naval Station Annapolis in Maryland, the daughter of Leonard and JoyBelle (Carkhuff) Yilek . Barb loved her grandchildren fiercely and made an effort to attend all of their big events and had them come stay for a week each summer when they were young.
Barb was a dedicated sports fan and watched lots of football and basketball to follow her favorite players, including Luka Garza and Caitlin Clark. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan, especially after her son attended the University of Iowa. She enjoyed tailgating and was always decked out in Hawkeye gear!
