Belinda Orvilla Carlson, 99, of Kenyon, died Monday, March 5, 2012 at Kenyon Sunset Home. She was born January 14, 1913 in Richland Township the daughter of Edward and Clara (Granley) Flom. Belinda graduated from Kenyon High School in 1929 and went on to Mankato Normal School to acquire her teaching certificate. She taught country school for 14 years, and also took care of the schools janitorial needs. She was a 4-H club leader and county extension director. She married Amos Carlson on June 21, 1947 at Moland Lutheran Church. The couple farmed for many years on the home place. They sold the farm in 1980 and moved to Kenyon. Belinda also served on the Kenyon Sunset Home and ALCW board of directors, and Moland Lutheran Church ladies aide. At the church she served as the historian for over 50 years. She published a book on Moland''s history Belinda enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and having coffee and cookies daily with friends and family. Belinda loved to play with great-grand dog, Jeff. She and Amos traveled to Canada often to visit his relatives. Belinda was also very proud of her Norwegian heritage. She is survived by her daughter, Diane and husband John Walsh of Vail, Iowa; two granddaughters, Theresa Walsh of Mankato, Elizabeth Walsh of Lawrence, Kansas; grandson, James Walsh of Waverly, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Belinda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her two brothers, Arthur (Gladys) Flom, Edroy (Marjorie) Flom; sister, Ora (Selmer) Jacobson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Friday March 9, 2012 from 4 pm to 7 pm; and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 2 pm at Moland Lutheran Church with The Reverend Nancy Edwardson officiating. Interment will be in the Moland Lutheran Cemetery.
