Bernadette Cecelia (Zabel) Anderson, 86, of Owatonna, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Birchwood Cottages, Owatonna.
She was born March 20, 1930 in Faribault the daughter of Ralph and Genevieve (Hackett) Zabel. Bernadette graduated from Bethlehem Academy High School. She married Glen Anderson November 21, 1951 in Faribault. The couple lived their life together in Owatonna. Glen preceded her in death in 2015. Bernadette worked at the Faribault Hotel, North American Chemical Company, Protecto Manufacturing and the Village Cafe.
She enjoyed watching sports and was an avid fan of all Minnesota sports teams. She performed and traveled with the Christy Obrecht Show in her late teens and later in life performed with the Sweet Adeline's. Bernadette formed the Dancin' Grandmas, a group that sang and tap danced throughout southern Minnesota.
She is survived by her children, Gregg (Kathy) Anderson, Glenda (Luther ) Hanson, Mark (Melanie) Anderson all of Owatonna; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 sisters, 1 brother, and son-in-law.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11am at Michaelson Funeral Home with visitation from 9am to 11am. Pastor John Linde will be officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna.
