Bernard H. Sorenson, 91, of Owatonna, died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born April 1, 1917 in, Berlin Township, Steele County the son of Harry and Anna (Camp) Sorenson. Bernard attended school in Ellendale, and then served in the United States Army from 1941 until 1945. He married Bernice Thompson July 5, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran in Owatonna. Bernard worked at OTC for thirty-four years as a machinist. He was a past commander of the VFW from 1958-1960, and was a member of the Elks, Masons, and the Disabled American Veterans. Bernard enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling. Bernard is survived by his daughter Sarah (Philip) Larson of Braham, three grandchildren, and one great- granddaughter. A special friend Shirley Wanous of Blooming Prairie, sister Erliss Helgeson of Adams, WI, and brother Marlowe Sorenson of Richfield, also survives him. His wife, and sister Beatrice Busho preceded him in death. Funeral service will be 2PM Thursday July 3, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday July 2, 2008 from 5-7 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Danish Lutheran Cemetery Lemond Township with honors provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
