Berneta H. Yess, 78, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Berneta was born November 29, 1933 in Owatonna, Minnesota the daughter of Richard and Agnes (Spindler) Sommer. Here she was raised and attended school graduating from Owatonna High School. She was united in marriage to Wilbert Yess on August 2, 1953 at St. John Lutheran Church. She worked at Phillips 66 and for Rural Electric Association as a bookkeeper. She then worked for US West/Qwest Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. She is survived by two sons, Rochlyn "Rocky" (and Wendy) Yess of Eugene, OR; Richard "Rick" Yess of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter, Roxanne (Paul) Howard of Butte, MT; a sister, Annette Kubista of Owatonna; a step brother, Delbert "Bud" Sommer of Owatonna; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Wilbert Yess, and her parents. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 1:00 PM at St John Cemetery with The Reverend John Weisenburger officiating. A reception to visit with the family will follow at Michaelson Funeral Home.
