Berniece Helen Wilson, 94, of Owatonna, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital. Berniece was born November 27, 1918 in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota the daughter of Sam and Amanda (Lee) Anderson. She attended country school and then Blooming Prairie High School graduating in 1937. She was united in marriage to Haven Wilson on October 9, 1937 in Blooming Prairie. They made their home in Blooming Prairie and later moved to West Concord. Berniece worked at Ward''s Market and for Miracles Grocery in West Concord. She also worked at the Kenyon Canning Company. The couple moved to Skyberg and Berniece served as the Postmaster and owned and operated a grocery store. Following she began working at Federated Insurance. They moved to Owatonna in 1957. Berniece then began working at Josten''s and later for the employment office in Owatonna. Haven died July 12, 1992. Berniece had many hobbies and interest. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, needlepoint and gardening. She also liked putting jigsaw puzzles together as well and working on crossword puzzles and playing solitaire. Early on she and Haven would go camping in Madison Lake and after retirement they stayed at Lemieux''s Resort in Faribault during the summer months. Her sister Mildred taught Berniece to play the piano while growing up and Berniece also played the organ. She is survived by her children Robert (and Sharon) Wilson of Donna, TX; Caryl Hughes of Faribault; Diane (and Lloyd) VanGuilder of Albert Lea; Bonnie (and Donald) Knutson of Owatonna; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; a brother Arlen (and Evelyn) Anderson of Brainerd; and a brother-in-law Art Syverud of Blooming Prairie. She was preceded in death by her husband Haven; her parents; two sisters, Mildred and Gladys; a son-in-law Terry Hughes; a great grandson Jeff and three great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, March 25, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the Diabetes''s Association.
