Betty B. Kulas, 91, of Owatonna, died Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Homestead Hospice House.
She was born January 1, 1929, in Cordova, the daughter of Byron and Mabel (Elliot) Bickell. She attended country school through the eighth grade, attended high school in Le Center and graduated from Waseca High School in 1946. On May 29, 1947, she married Elmer Kulas at the First Baptist Church in Owatonna. They had five children. They enjoyed square dancing and traveling together. They wintered in Texas and Arizona for many years before buying a home in Mesa, AZ where they lived for ten years. On February 21, 2004, Elmer died. In 2010, Betty returned home to Owatonna. She was a very patient, caring and loving mom and grandma. Betty enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She made many quilts and afghans for her loving family. Betty was active in the First Baptist Church for many years where she participated in the women's group and taught Sunday school for many years.
She is survived by her children, Doug (Judy) Kulas of Aurora, CO, Mike Kulas of Peachtree City, GA, Ed (Frances) Kulas of Azel, TX and Roxanne (Roger) Wacek of Owatonna; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters and one daughter-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer; one son; four siblings; and one daughter-in-law.
Visitation will be from 4-6 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at Michaelson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 13, 2020, at 1:30 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to First Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice.
