Obituary

Betty J. Hrdlichka 89, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, September 9 at her home. She was born April 1, 1919 in Lemond Township, Minnesota the daughter of Joseph and Cora (Hammer) Meixner. Betty attended Saco school in Somerset Township, and She married Walter Hrdlichka June 11, 1941 and the couple farmed together in Lemond Township. Betty and Walter moved to Owatonna in 1964, and Walter died April 2, 1965. Betty worked at Truth Hardware for twenty years and then for the Salvation Army for ten years retiring at age 85. She was a member of Associated Church and the Eagle's Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed old time music, bowling, trips to Las Vegas, and going out to eat. Spending time with family and her two granddaughters was most important to Betty. Betty is survived by her son Gary (Mida) Hrdlichka of Owatonna, daughter Barb Hrdlichka of Owatonna, two granddaughters Kelsey and Krysta Hrdlichka. She is also survived by one sister Eleanor Simon of Owatonna, two sisters in law Gerry Meixner of Owatonna, Ann Hrdlichka of Owatonna. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, two sisters Romayne Simon, and Margaret Gentner, and one brother Donald Meixner. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday September 12 from 4-7PM, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral service will be held Saturday September 13 at 2PM at Associated Church with The Reverend James Oberg officiating. Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Owatonna.
