Betty J. Wencl, 82, of Owatonna, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Homestead Hospice House. Betty Jean Wencl was born December 28, 1928, in Owatonna, the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Calverly) Wencl. She married Richard Wencl on February 5, 1947. They farmed in rural Bixby, operated the Claremont Corner Store, the Merton Store and eventually settled in rural West Concord. Betty worked at OTC and Sunset Nursing Home, Kenyon for 20 years. After retiring, she moved to Owatonna where she lived until her death. Betty enjoyed many things, especially playing cards, painting, bird watching, coffee hour and potlucks. Her most cherished memories are times spent with family. She is survived by five daughters, Janet Radtke, Karen (Erling) Hommedahl, Lorna (Thomas) Staska of Owatonna, Gale (Ronald) Fisher, Ft. Dodge, IA, Renee (Chuck) Erickson, Kasson. Three sons, Roger (Kim) Owatonna, Russell (Nancy) Big Rapids, MI, Randy (Karla) Dodge Center; 19 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sister Marilyn (Greg) Dulas, West St. Paul, brother Kenneth Wencl, Smyrna, GA, sisters-in-law, Margaret Kubat, Owatonna and Elaine Wencl, Alexandria, MN, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Betty was preceded in death by husband Richard (1979), her parents, brother Charles, infant sister, and granddaughter Elizabeth. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, May 5, 2011, from 4:00 to 7:00PM and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with Reverend Karl Korbel and Reverend John Weisenburger officiating. Interment in Concord Cemetery, West Concord. Memorials are preferred to the family or donor''s choice.
