Betty Jean Marshall, 85, of Owatonna, died Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Homestead Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 23, 1926 in Hudson, Wisconsin the daughter of Alfred and Selma (Exe) Grunwald. She attended Owatonna High School. She married Richard Marshall on May 7, 1945 in North Carolina. After Richard''s discharge from the Marine Corps, the couple moved to Grand Rapids, MI. In 1951, they moved to Owatonna when Richard was called to serve in the Korean War. Betty worked as a cook for many years in the Owatonna Public School system. She then worked as the laundry supervisor at Cedarview Care Center until her retirement in 1991. Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, and Red Hat Society. She was also active at Senior Place and a member of Blooming Prairie Country Club. Betty was artistic which showed in her paintings and ceramics. She also enjoyed flower gardening and took care of the flowers at Countryside, where she resided. She is survived by her two sons, Doug (and Pat) Marshall of Lake City, and Brad (and Debbie) Marshall of Owatonna; two grandsons, Eric (and Reyna) Marshall of Owatonna, and Matthew Marshall of Savage; three great grandchildren, Christian, Ella, and Nora; her brother, Harvey (and Florence) Grunwald of Forest Lake; two sisters-in-law, Marie Grunwald of Willmar, and Betty Grunwald of Owatonna; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard, sister, Lucille Pratt, and two brothers, Stewart and Robert Grunwald. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM . Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend John Lestock officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or Homestead Hospice House.
