Betty K. Schwartz, 75, of Owatonna, died Saturday, August 9, 2008 at her home. She was born March 10, 1933 in Berlin Township the daughter of Christian and Agnes (Carlson) Trandem. Betty graduated from Ellendale High School. She married Clarence Schwartz September 7, 1952 in Ellendale. The couple farmed for many years just west of Hope before moving to a farm on the east side of Owatonna. Betty was a member of Northridge Church. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning, cooking and baking. She made lefse for her family and always made sure to have fresh chocolate chip cookies ready when her grandchildren came to visit. Betty also loved to watch birds. Betty is survived by her daughters, Cheri (and Jimmy) Clark of Rockport, TX, LuAnn (and William) Smith of Cottage Grove, OR, Sharon (and Paul) Anderson of Springfield, OR, Wanda (and Kevin) Kewatt of Medford; sons, Larry (and Teresa) Schwartz of Owatonna, Les (and Bridget) Schwartz of Owatonna, Craig (and Mary Jo) Schwartz of Owatonna; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brothers, John (and Marcella) Trandem of Owatonna, Clayton (and Hazel) Trandem of Albert Lea, Harold (and Joan) Trandem of New Richland; sister, Doris Zeise of Owatonna and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and 5 brothers. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7pm and at Northridge Church on Friday from 9-10am. Funeral services will be held August 15, 2008 at 10:00am at Northridge Church with Pastor Mark Perryman officiating. Interment will be in the Danish Lutheran Cemetery in Lemond Township.
