Obituary

Betty Jean Wencl, 90, of Owatonna, died Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Owatonna Hospital. She was born July 24, 1924 in Albert Lea, Minnesota the daughter of Harold and Marjorie (McCracken) Lake. She married Hubert Wencl in 1941 in Blooming Prairie. Betty worked on the farm and was a homemaker and mother. After raising their five children, Betty worked at Kummeth Manufacturing then Owatonna Tool Company from 1967 until her retirement in 1986. Betty enjoyed quilting, gardening, flowers, traveling, dancing and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a Gold Star Mother, member of VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Club, and The Associated Church. She is survived by her four children, Robert (and Sheila) Wencl, Richard (and Darlene) Wencl, Douglas (and Kathy) Wencl, and Linda (and Leon) Ellis all of Owatonna; ten grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Marjorie, stepmother, Rose Lake, husband, Hubert, son, David, sister, Alice Lange, and brother, Donald Lake Sr. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 1:30 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
