Obituary

Beulah M. Noah, 96, of Kenyon died Thursday, February 10 at the North Ridge View Home where she had resided the past two and one-half years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 17 at the Kenyon United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior to services. Dr. Dana Houck will officiate. Her ashes will be taken to Auburn, Nebraska for a noon memorial service on Saturday, February 19 at the Arbor Manor, followed by inurnment in Sheridan Cemetery at Auburn. Rev. Loren Mullins will officiate. Beulah was born on June 15, 1914 at Perry, Oklahoma, the daughter of James Patrick and Mamie Dell (Gould) Mullins. While a young girl, the family moved to the Salem, Nebraska area, making the transition in a covered wagon. She attended Salem High School, graduating in 1932. On January 2, 1934 she was united in marriage to Thomas Noah at the Richardson County Courthouse in Falls City. To that union were born six children: Donald (Rachel) of Palmdale, CA; Mavis (Robert) Metzel, both deceased; Robert (Carol) of Kenyon; Dennis (Karin) of Tuscon, AZ; and twins, Jean Noah of Canoga Park, CA., and Dean Noah (Pam) of Kenyon. There are 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary just days before Tom died. While living in southeast Nebraska, the family resided mostly in the Stella and Auburn communities, then moved to California in 1958 where they remained until retirement in 1976. Tom and Beulah returned to Auburn where they remained until Tom's death in 1984. Beulah moved to Kenyon in 1989 where she remained until her death. Beulah was an adept seamstress, and through her life made and altered many items of clothing for friends and clients. Upon their move to California, she was employed by a company associated with the fledgling aerospace industry and helped make parachutes, flotation bags, and dye bags for early returning rockets and spaceships. After returning to Auburn she made several wedding and attendant dresses for friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; her parents; daughter, Mavis and son-in-law Robert Metzel; brothers Samuel (Rachel) Mullins and James (Iola then Gladys); sisters, May (Burt) Coryell, Ethel (Harold) Roettger, Edna (Guy Dunn then Ford) Chase; and Bessie (Eliehuh) Hundley. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as members of the Priscilla Club in Kenyon. She spent many happy hours quilting with her friends in Priscilla.
