Beverly Ann Soukup, 73, of Owatonna, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester. Beverly Ann Haberman was born April 2, 1936 in Owatonna the daughter of Pete and Francis (Spinler) Haberman. She grew up on a farm south of Owatonna and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1953. Bev met Bernard "Bernie" Soukup in Hope and they were married on October 22, 1955 in Litomysl. Together they built their home on the homestead where Bev grew up. They lived on the farm until moving to Owatonna in 1984. Bernie and Bev started Soukup Bulk in 1958, which they owned and operated until 1992. In addition to the bulk business, Bev worked at Hy-Line Hatchery and more than 28 years at the Owatonna Eagles Club. Bev enjoyed going up north fishing at the cabin with her family. She loved to watch birds while listening to WCCO and doing a word find. She was a fan of the Vikings, Twins and NASCAR. She loved to play BINGO and go to the casino's. She is survived by her son, Bernard 'Butch' (and Peggy Berry) Soukup, Jr. of Owatonna; daughters, Brenda (and Bill Bartusek) Hobgood of Owatonna, Becky (and Tony) Schwering of Claremont; acquired son, Chuck Mees of Owatonna; grandchildren, Jennifer (and Eric) Webster, Amanda Hobgood, Billy Schwering, Cody Schwering, Stacie Boyd; great grandchildren, MaKayla Hobgood, Abbie Webster, Joe Webster; sister, Lillian (and Jerome) Wanous of Owatonna. She was preceded in death by her husband, and grandson, Joey Hobgood. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday from 1pm to 4pm and at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday from 9am to 10am. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 15, 2009 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Edward McGrath officiating. Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Owatonna.
