Bonita McGoff Grundman, 86, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Homestead Hospice House.
Bonnie was born November 9, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri. As a baby she was adopted by Earl and Anne (Gullickson) Ryan and was raised in Blue Earth Minnesota, joining a sister Meryce. Bonnie was very musical, she played several instruments and by the age of 12 was the organist at the Catholic Church. She also had a beautiful soprano singing voice.
She met Paul McGoff, also of Blue Earth and they were married in February, 1952, and moved to Owatonna, where 7 children quickly followed. Bonnie was a stay at home mom until 1968 when she went to work for Federated Insurance as a keypunch operator first and then a computer operator. She worked for Federated for 27 years. Bonnie was widowed in 1991. In 1992 she was re-acquainted with Jim Grundman, whom she had known when they were all newlyweds in Owatonna in the early 50's. She married Jim in November, 1996. They spent many winters in St. Augustine, Florida. Bonnie loved to travel and traveled all over North America and Europe and loved her champagne and her birthdays. She especially loved the trips with her 7 children, which were usually once a year. She went on her dream trip to Hawaii just last year with 3 of her children and a grandson. Bonnie is survived by her husband, James Grundman; 7 children; Mary Dudding (Leroy Jansen), Stephen McGoff (Zohra), Patricia Englin (Jeff), David McGoff (Ruth), Kathleen Jurkovich (Mark), Regina McGoff (Kevin Sullivan) and Philip McGoff. She is also survived by Jim's children, Tom, Jean and Steve. She has 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren that she doted on. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Paul; sister, Meryce Huettl; brother-in-law, Louis Huettl; son-in-law Tom Dudding. Memorial services will be held 10:30am, Wednesday May 9th at St. Joseph Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
