Brenda J. Helget, 55, of Owatonna, died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at her home. Brenda was born November 24, 1958 in Forest Lake, Minnesota the daughter of Norbert and Eleanor (Kahle) Helget. She grew up near Dalbo, Minnesota and attended grade school in Ogilvie. She then moved with her family to New Ulm and there attended high school until her junior year. Her senior year was spent in Cambridge. She married Lee Halverson in Madelia, Minnesota. There she worked for Van den Bergh Foods. The couple later divorced. Brenda moved to Owatonna where she worked for Cash Wise Foods and later for Viracon. Brenda was proud of the fact that this year marked the 12th year of sobriety. Along with attending meetings she was also active with the Alcoholics Anonymous. She is survived by a son, Cody (and Brittney Bartsch) Halverson of Owatonna; three brothers, Danny (and Janna) Helget of New Ulm; Martin (and Dee) Helget of Cedar, MN; Bobby (and Nancy) Helget of Omaha; three sisters, Geri Ann Simpson of Detroit Lakes; Jackie (and Dan) Thorsbakken of Princeton; Norma (and Gary) Shaffer of Cambridge; and her former husband, Lee Halverson of Owatonna, She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ardyce Olson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday, October 3, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Memorial services will be held Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna with Father Brian Sutton officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
