Bruce Laverne Moravec, age 58, of Claremont, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Friday, January 4, 2019 at his home. Bruce was born May 26, 1960 in Owatonna, the son of Alvis and Bertha (Dahlke) Moravec. He attended Owatonna High School and graduated in 1978, and then began working at the Auto Value store in Owatonna as a counterman. Bruce met Renee Taylor online via an AAL website with Singles Mingle in 2000. After emailing for a year, they met in person at the Cedar Valley Nature Trail in Cedar Rapids, IA. After some long distance dating, the couple became engaged and Bruce moved to Amana, IA where he lived with his in-laws, Keith and Myra Taylor until he married Renee on June 9, 2002 at St. John's Church in Marengo, IA. The couple settled in Marion, IA, where they joined the church family of St. Paul's Lutheran. At St. Paul's, Bruce was active as a reader. In Marion, he was employed by Arnold's Motor Supply as a counterman. For a few years, the couple had two foster children. In the summer of 2016, the couple moved to MN, to follow a dream or vision and to help Bruce's mom, Bertha. Most recently, Bruce worked at Auto Value in Faribault as a store manager. Bruce loved God and served Him as a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He enjoyed nature and watching birds, especially eagles. He also enjoyed traveling to national parks, watching movies, going to Christian and country concerts, watching the Vikings & MN Gophers, and spending time with his wife Renee. He also loved playing with their dog, Daisy and cat, Sasha. Bruce is survived by his wife Renee Moravec; mother, Bertha of Claremont; sisters, Debbie Nelson of Owatonna, Laurie Moravec of Owatonna, and Amy (Peter) Scarborough of La Crosse, WI; nephew, Christopher (Crystal) Nelson and his children, Danica, Jerica, Christian, and Isaac of Red Wing; nieces, April and Teresa Scarborough of La Crosse, and Rachel Scheidt of Coralville, IA; sister-in-law, Ronda (Dennis) Scheidt of Coralville, IA; and parents-in-law, Keith and Myra Taylor. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvis. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-6pm and at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Friday from 10-11am. Funeral services will be held January 11, 2019 at 11am at Redeemer Lutheran Church with The Reverend Kirk Griebel officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
