Obituary

Burnell Harlan Schull , 77, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital due to an accidental fall from the icy conditions. He was born May 27, 1931 in Owatonna the son of Herman and Minnie (Heinze) Schull. Burnell served in the US Army from 1952-1954. Burnell married Shirley Bennett Nov. 3, 1956 at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church, Meriden. She later preceded him in death. He married Marian (Walker) Evans Nov. 28, 1975 at St. John''s Lutheran Church, Claremont. He loved farming and did so for many years. Burnell worked for the Owatonna Canning Company for 43 years while he was farming. He was a member of the Eagle's Club and a life member of the American Legion. Burnell enjoyed bird watching and loved deep sea fishing in Florida. He also enjoyed playing pinochle and was known as 'Mr. Ace.' He is survived by his wife, Marian Schull of Owatonna; sons, Douglas Schull, Loren Schull, Mike Schull, Roger Evans, Monte Evans, Craig (and Pam) Evans, Jeff Evans, Andy Evans; daughters, Vicki Schull, Cynthia (and James) Morris, Barb (and Joe) Erler; 23 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Everett Schull, Harold (and Juanita) Schull, Marvin Schull , James (and Linda) Schull and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley; sister, Robetta; brother, Robert. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday from 4-7pm and at United Methodist Church on Saturday from 12-1pm. Funeral services will be held January 17, 2009 at 1:00pm at United Methodist Church with Pastor Loren Olson officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit. Interment will be in St. John''s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Mayo Clinic Neurological Division.
