Candice "Candy" E. Braaten, 61, of Kenyon, died after 6-year battle with Alzheimer's on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at North Ridge View Assisted Living.
She was born September 14, 1958, in Faribault, the daughter of Glen and Constance "Connie" (Rud) Albright. Candy graduated from Kenyon High School in 1976. On November 10, 1979, she married Randy Braaten, at Hauge Lutheran Church in Kenyon. Candy worked several jobs including working for her father's plumbing and heating company in Kenyon, Northrup King in Stanton, the seed corn plant in Kenyon, Avon representative and was part owner of Curves in Kenyon. Her favorite job was farming with her husband. Candy enjoyed cooking and baking, and was a meticulous housekeeper. She loved the outdoors and gardening, especially plants and flowers. She was the event coordinator of friend and family activities as she planned many Halloween parties, themed holiday parties, and entertained at the pond. Candy added a special touch to everything she did.
She is survived by her husband, Randy Braaten of Kenyon; daughter, Lacey (Steve Dankers) of Goodhue; her four-legged furry companion, Marley; father, Glen Albright of Kenyon; siblings, Jeff (Debbie) Albright of Wasilla, AK, Carmen (Brad) Nesseth of Kenyon, Jon (Cheri) Albright of Wasilla, AK, Carrie (Dave) Stevenson of Kenyon and Jason Albright of Kenyon; sister-in-law, Caren (Bob) Sletten of Northfield; brother-in-law, Todd (Rick) Braaten of Salt Lake City, UT; many nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver, LeAnn Cook of Kenyon.
She was preceded in death by mother, Connie Albright; brother, Jim Albright; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Marcia Braaten; brother-in-law, Howard Braaten.
A celebration of Candy's life will be held at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to thank North Ridge View and St. Croix Hospice for their wonderful care.
