Carla M. Cullip 86, of rural West Concord, died Friday, August 29 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was born December 12, 1921 in Holden Township, the daughter of Melvin B. and Clara (Helland) Broin. Carla attended country school in rural Nerstrand and graduated from Kenyon High School in 1939. She married Joseph 'Joe' Cullip on October 28, 1941 at the Little Cannon Church. The couple farmed together in rural West Concord until retiring in 1982 and moving to West Concord. Through the years Carla and Joe extensively traveled by car and RV across the Western United States fulfilling one of her many passions in life. Carla was a member of Moland Lutheran Church where she was very involved with ladies aid, circle, and Sunday school. She was also a member of many civic clubs and participated in the Kenyon Wagon Wheel Square Dance Club. Carla found joy spending many hours sewing and cooking for her family. The most treasured thing in Carla''s life was family, especially her three granddaughters, Sara, Rinda, and Krista Van Zuilen. Carla is survived by her husband Joseph of West Concord, daughter Dawn (Rick) Van Zuilen of West Concord, and three granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parent''s one sister Sevella Broin and one brother Glen Broin. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home- Kenyon on Tuesday September 2 from 5-8 PM and at Moland Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 10-11 AM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 3 at 11:00 AM at Moland Lutheran Church with The Reverend Nancy Edwardson officiating. Interment will be in the Little Cannon Cemetery.
