Carlo Luigi Zago, 94, of Owatonna, died Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Homestead Hospice House. He was born August 18, 1919 in Treviso, Italy the son of Nicola and Irene (Genovese) Zago. Carlo served with the Italian Army during World War II in the Austrian Alps. He immigrated to Australia in 1952 where he met Lilliana Passantino. Carlo married Lilliana January 1, 1957 in Australia. The couple moved back to Italy in 1973 and then to Owatonna in 1976. He worked for OTC for ten years before his retirement. Carlo enjoyed gardening, playing pool, an occasional glass of wine and going out to eat. He loved to ride his bicycle which he was able to do until he was 90 years old. He was an awesome cook, specializing in Italian dishes. Carlo was devoted to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Al (and Kim) Zago of Owatonna; grandchildren, Nick (and Angie) Zago of Austin, April Zago of Owatonna, Justin Zago of Carlton; 7 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Lilliana, son Robert, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4pm to 7pm and on Wednesday from 9am to 10am. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 10am at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend John Sauer officiating.
