Carmen Perez Garza, 77, of Owatonna, died September 5, 2024, at her residence with her family surrounding her.

She was born on March 11, 1947 in Robstown, TX., to the late Martiriano and Francisca Luna Perez, Sr. She moved from Texas to Owatonna, Minnesota where she was married to the late Jose Gaudalupe Garza for 43 years. They both loved playing the slot machines when they had the time. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a true Vikings fan for many years. She enjoyed watching her "Spanish soaps" every day. Her love for her family was a strong bond knowing that 4 generations were always together under the same roof at any given time. She loved to cook for the whole family, liked to plant flowers and loved to pray to the Saints.

She is survived by her children; Louisa Rodriguez of Owatonna, Ofelia "Fifi" Cortez of Blooming Prairie, Lina Caudillo of Owatonna, Leticia Figueroa of Albert Lea, Martin Garza of Owatonna; Miguel Garza of Owatonna, Jose G Garza, Jr., of Albert Lea, Maria Garza of Owatonna, Odilia Garza of Faribault and Alberto Garza of Owatonna; 31 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren; siblings, Anastasia Rodriguez of Plainview, TX., Martiriano Perez Jr. of Tulia, TX., Maria Rodriguez of Owatonna, Rosa Washington of Midland, TX., Antonio Perez of Plainview, TX., Juana Tarango of Owatonna, Mario Perez of Lubbuck, TX, and Jose Perez of Longview, TX.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Jose Garza and a son, Gilberto Garza.

Family will receive friends Monday, September 9th, 2024, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Michaelson Funeral Home, 1930 Austin Road, Owatonna. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 10th, 2024, at 11 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cedar Ave., Owatonna, with family receiving friends one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial to follow in St. Columbanus Catholic Cemetery in Blooming Prairie.
