Carol Lea Kath, 79, of Owatonna, died Monday, June 26, 2017 at her residence at Valley View in Owatonna.
She was born December 18, 1937 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Charles and Greta (Soderberg) White. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from high school in 1955. She was united in marriage to Roy Emil Kath on December 1, 1956, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waseca. The couple made their home in Minneapolis where they began their family. In 1966, they moved to a farm in Deerfield Township near Waseca where they raised their family. Carol also worked outside the home at Brown Printing in Waseca for nearly 40 years. Following Roy's death she continued living on the farm and in 2002 moved to Owatonna. She enjoyed baking, walking, dancing and celebrating Halloween and Christmas holidays. She was especially proud of her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carol was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Meriden Township where she served and sang in the choir. Her diagnosis with dementia didn't stop her from enjoying life. She utilized her quick wit to adjust to the disease.
She is survived by her children, Gretchen (Charles) Kaplan of Owatonna, Mona (David) Scheerle of Fairmont, John (Rhonda) Kath of Waseca and Christopher (Shauna) Kath of Hudson, WI; siblings, Margaret (James) Heglund of Minneapolis, Alice Erickson of Grantsburg, WI, Charles (Margie) White of Minnetonka, John (Sandy) White of St. Paul and Patricia (Tim) Giese of Champlain; grandchildren, Allen (Caitlynn) Kaplan, Julia (Jeremy) Nelson, Samantha (Chad) Jones, Bobbie Jo Snook, Nicole (Dusty) Christenson, Ashley Kath and Alissa Kath; seven great grandchildren (and one on the way) and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Greta; husband, Roy; daughter, June Allbee and sister, Joanne Walker
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at the church one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held June 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Meriden Township with Reverend Cheryl D. Indehar officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
