Carroll Jeanne Evenson, of Owatonna, Minnesota, passed into eternal life on January 8, 2021, at age 85. Carroll was born on December 13, 1935, in Chamberlain, South Dakota, to Leo and Maybelle King. She attended high school in Faribault, Minnesota, and was a member of the class of 1953. As an employee of Jostens, she met Phillip Raymond Evenson, and the two were married on June 22, 1957, at Hope Lutheran Church in Hope, Minnesota. Aside from two years in Attleboro, Massachusetts, the couple resided in Owatonna throughout their married life where they raised their family of three children. Carroll was a homemaker, who later managed the local Hallmark store for many years. Her passions included dancing, athletics, cooking, sewing, the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, and true crime dramas. Carroll was a competitor and champion athlete who excelled in bowling and at playing golf, including many local Friday Afternoon League bowling championships with her dear friends. Carroll and Phillip also owned a cabin on Cedar Lake in Faribault and enjoyed many joyful years entertaining family and friends. Carroll's strong and loving presence will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Phillip; her parents, Leo and Maybelle King; and 11 siblings. She is survived by her children, Kelly Donohue (Bill) of Alto, Michigan; Laurie Evenson of La Crescent, Minnesota; Troy (Nancy) Evenson of Owatonna; and her seven grandchildren, Katherine (Alex) Grimes; Ryan (Heidi) Donohue; Mark Donohue; Thomas (Elizabeth) Evenson; Chelsea (Chase Hollenbeck) Smith; Tanner (Alex Watzl) Evenson; Jack Evenson; seven great grandchildren, William and Henry Grimes; Lydia and Audrey Donohue; Parker and Kaine Smith; Nash Evenson; and her brother, James King, of Shakopee, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at a time to be announced.
