Charles Hobart Mollenhauer, 97, of Claremont, died Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Prairie Manor care Center, Blooming Prairie.
He was born February 29, 1920 in Medford Township the son of Jesse and Leila (Frank) Mollenhauer. Charlie graduated from Medford High School in 1938. He farmed with his family for several years and loved working with their Belgian work horses. On May 11, 1947 he married Elnora Villwock in St. Paul. The couple continued farming with Charlie's family until moving to the Claremont area where he worked as a farm hand. Charlie started hauling milk and driving dump truck. He later operated his own bulk milk hauling route until his retirement in the early 1980's. In his retirement, he worked for the Owatonna Canning Company and Greenway Co-op.
Charlie was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. In his younger years he participated in 4-H and golden gloves boxing. He also enjoyed polka music, dancing, hunting, fishing, woodworking, cutting and splitting fire wood and his dogs.
He is survived by his daughters, Jacqualyn Phelps of Owatonna, Cheryl (and Thomas) Olson of Claremont, Sandie (and Ethan) Reed of Claremont; grandchildren, Micah (and Cindy) Olson, Joshua (and Jen) Stark, Thomas Olson, Jr., Nicholas (and Erin) Olson, Ashley (and Joe) Hjelmen, Rebeca Phelps; 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elnora; sister, Alice; brothers, Harvey, Grant, Vic, Leonard.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday from 10am to 11am. Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11am at Michaelson Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Hegal officiating. Interment will be in the Meadow Ridge Cemetery in Faribault.
