Charles Michael Rappe, 72, of Owatonna, died Friday, September 30, 2016 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna, Minnesota.
Chuck was born July 7, 1944 in Austin, Minnesota the son of Irvin and Edna (Laudert) Rappe. He graduated Faribault High School in 1962 and attended Mankato State where he earned his Accounting degree. He married Julie Ann Velzke on August 28, 1965 at Peace Lutheran Church in Faribault. Chuck worked for Wenger Corporation for 43 years. Thirty of those years he worked as an accountant. He retired in 2007.
Chuck was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He served as Co-Superintendent of Sunday School, along with his wife, Julie Ann. He also served on the Board of Education and chaired Board of Lay Ministries. Chuck was a sports writer for the Owatonna Peoples Press. He was a parent representative for youth hockey along with being their treasurer and past president. Chuck was an Owatonna Park and Rec Volunteer and coach for 20 years; grade school football, girls softball, boys baseball and hockey.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Ann Rappe of Owatonna; children, Tad (and Janie) Rappe of Faribault, Lori (and Dean) Pettit of Dallas, TX, Craig (and Amy) Rappe of Owatonna, and Jilene Rappe of Owatonna; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Thomas (and Diane) Rappe of Richfield; sister-in-law, Roberta Rappe of Madison, WI; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Madison Rappe; brothers, Richard and Roger Rappe; niece Erin Marie Rappe.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Owatonna with The Reverend Kirk Griebel officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pancreatic Cancer Lustgarten Foundation www.curePC.org.
